Last Night A DJ Saved My Life..

Going out clubbing here is not something I particularly look forward to, mostly because the ambience and music always seem to be lacking…especially the music!

Enter DJ Zazou.

Find me a DJ who can mix 90s R’n’B with commercial hits then switch to old school hiphop in between scratches and mixes of unreleased new rap tracks then throw in old school classic ragga/ dancehall hits… all in one set.. Wait for it… in the middle of Europe!!!

Kudoz DJ Zazou.

Enough said.

The Power of Postive Thinking..

“I thank God for the dreamers..”

(insert photo of Obama taking the Oath of Office here!!!)

As much as I have just witnessed History in the making, I am reminded that Obama, President Obama, is still a politician just like all of them.
But what is truly inspiring for me is what this man symbolises…
Little things like Hope, Inner Will, Faith even Dreams can be very powerful things if they are positive and directed towards a goal no matter how far it may seem or how many years it will take or how many obstacles you fear will stand in your way.
Although I’m sure it’s helped to have someone like Michelle to bring him down to earth from time to time…

Ultimately I believe that all dreamers are doers in the making.

Dont give up on your dreams. Ever.

All I got to say
Is it wont let go
We can pray to early May
Fast for 30 days
Still It wont let go…

6 months on and she is still my One. I would give anything to spend all our monthversaries together until we’re too old to remember the 18th. All its taken us is a little bit of faith, an extra bit of effort and whole lot of love and look how far we’ve gotten.
To say that my love and I have been through alot in the past half year would be a gross understatement. Even now, we continue to face a great number of challenges and obstacles along our way—

Still it wont let go.

One Month…

A month ago, this blog was born! 🙂

My partner in crime came up with this brilliant idea and the rest as they say, is history.
Alot has happened in the past month alone in each of our lives and we have tried to capture all that through our various individual posts.

Personally, I feel like this blog came along at a good point in my life. Until quite recently, I’ve continued to have issues with opening up and sharing information but I feel like all that has started to change.

As for our one month old blog, I shall continue opening up and sharing my T H O U G H T S throughout this year. So even as I continue to find my own blog-writing niche, I will remain unashamedly, undeniably, categorically me.

Hold on…

“I’m not at all ready to hear
her say don’t bother
And break
And this I know I can’t take
but uhh
C. Smith said to hold on
My brother Luck said to hold on
My aggin Dave said to hold on
My aggin Mase said to hold on
Yo, Maseo, we need to hold on
Ay, yo, we need to hold on…”

Apart from Soul searching through my music collection – De La that is, I’ve also been doing some soul searching of my own.

“Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it…”

As I embark on yet another journey through the 365 odd days of 2009, I’m taking it easy on my usual grandiose list of NY resolutions which I’m known to make.
All I need this year is to come up with a solid plan for myself, know it, believe in it and stick to it no matter what.
2008 seemed like a never-end year of ups and downs for me not necessarily because I planned to fail, I simply failed to plan – for anything, I mean anything, at all. It’s actually a miracle that I made it through the year holding on to anything.
Therefore, if I start this year with a plan, I am convinced that anything is possible under the sun… as long as I prepare in advance and work towards my goals, little by little, one day at a time.
And on that note, allow me to share with you all an old well-known poem, which I personally think we can all relate to especially as we plan and prepare for the rest of 2009:

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream–and not make dreams your master,
If you can think–and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings–nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And–which is more–you’ll be a Man, my son!

–Rudyard Kipling

Happy New Year to one and all!
